Milestones to Millstones - 17 mill walks in Oxfordshire and beyond

We chose the theme of mills as they are a focal point of the landscape, having been an essential part of village life in the past.  Thus they are well-served by footpaths and roads.  We were attracted by the airy panoramas surrounding the windmills and the contrast of the peace of the riverside walks to watermills.

Some of the mills are still at work and are producing flour for sale or producing hydro-electricity.  Others are conserved as ancient monuments and in some places groups of enthusiasts have gathered together, sought the expertise of millwrights and raised the money to restore their local mills to their former glory.  The opening times of all the mills are listed in the book.
